(22-16ga) Instant Tap Terminal Connector
Vinyl Insulated - 100 pack

    Type: Instant Tap Terminal Connector

Wire Size: 22 gauge to 16 gauge

    Has Stop: Yes
The "stop" refers to the inside of a terminal tube has a small piece of vinyl that bars the way of one wire so that you do not risk pushing a wire too far out and potentially (if working with a "hot" wire) shorting out the system you are working on; while the other side (outside) has no stop, allowing the wire you splice to continue to run to where you have it.

  • Insulation: Vinyl
In a very short summary Vinyl is cheap, Nylon is better (and more expensive).
Typically, to keep costs down, the basic terminals use vinyl insulation. Vinyl provides good dielectric strength and supports the wire insulation.
    • Example of use:
The instant Tap terminal connectors are quite an odd but very quick terminal connector. The way they are are designed makes it so you can take un-stripped wire, place it in one of the "tubes" and take another wire and place it on the side - then by means of a small tab that you fold over; it pushes a thin metal piece through the insulation and into the wire, "splicing" the wires together quickly and easily. These types of terminals allow very quick spices to be added with an existing system, with very little effort.
